E.1027: A Modernist Mystery

Exhibition Description

E.1027: A Modernist Mystery will offer a rare insight into Eileen Gray’s iconic villa, built between 1926 and 1929 on the French Riviera, and explore the complex relationship between the designer and a house that she so much conceived as a mirror of herself. After years of extensive restoration E.1027 is scheduled to open to the public for the very first time in the fall of 2012. Combining new photographs of the villa and re-editions of objects and furniture, the exhibition will give to the public the opportunity to experience the symbiotic quality of the furniture in the context of the house and emphasize the beauty and simplicity of Eileen Gray’s work, underlining the common traits of her design and architecture.
